Quick Start: Staff
Your first day at the front desk.
Before you start
Someone with OWNER or ADMIN access needs to invite you first — there's no self-serve staff sign-up. Once invited, you'll get an email with a link to create your account.
If a Clerk domain change happened recently and you previously had an account, you may see "Not authorized" the first time you sign in after the change. This is a known, quick fix — see Staff Can't Log In.
Your daily starting point: the Front Desk dashboard
After signing in, the front-desk dashboard is where a shift usually starts. It shows, live, without needing a page refresh:
- Today's bookings and check-ins
- The mail/package log — new arrivals and open requests
- Quick-action panels for common tasks (new lead, walk-in sale)
See Front Desk for the full walkthrough.
The things you'll do most
- Sell a day pass to a walk-in — Day Passes
- Book a meeting room for someone calling in — Bookings & Meeting Rooms
- Log an incoming package — Registered Office & Mail
- Check someone in — from the front-desk dashboard or the mobile app's QR scanner
What you can't do alone
As FRONT_DESK, a few actions always need an OWNER or ADMIN to approve before they take effect, no matter the amount involved:
- Issuing a refund
- Voiding an invoice
- Booking a weekend slot (unless the location's hours make that a normal business day)
This isn't a bug or a permissions error — it's how the approval system is designed. Propose the action as usual; it'll show up in Approvals for a manager to confirm.
If something looks wrong
Check Troubleshooting & Support first — most day-to-day issues (a stuck print job, a mail-matching flag, a confusing charge) have a known cause documented there.
